First, consider the outdoor needs of you and your family. If you have children, designate a play area in an open area of your backyard. Use colorful containers or a large plastic bin to store outdoor toys and design a relaxing sitting and conversation area within eyesight for easy supervision. Your sitting area may be as simple as a few lounge chairs or a full outdoor living area with weather resistant wicker furniture and colorful throw pillows to brighten the room.
The accessories and lighting you use to decorate your backyard living space will set the mood and atmosphere for this part of your home, just like inside. Citronella candles are great bug repellents and add a subtle glow to your backyard retreat. Colorful accents, like pillows, placemats, and bright chair cushions, can make your outdoor areas very inviting. Consider festive vases full of your favorite flowers for table décor and hang wind chimes for a melodic atmosphere.
Gazing globes- Here's another unique idea that's been around a while but is really making a comeback since the Victorian period when they were so popular. There are many different colors and sizes of gazing globes. Some come with their own unique stands to hold them. Most modern versions are around 10 to 12 inches in diameter but there are globes as large as 20 inches or those that are smaller than 10. The color and size depend on the unique look you are going for.
Backyard decorations are essential for entertaining. There are various options to help you create that memorable party or celebration. Also, there are a lot of options to help you tailor your backyard to perfectly fit the right party. Think about table décor for instance. Table decor can be found that will set the mood for an adult or child's birthday party. There are numerous outdoor decorations for holiday entertaining. Balloons, Chinese lanterns, candles, string lights, streamers, and banners are possible options for party decorations.
Another theme many choose is to make the yard look like a day at the beach. This can be accomplished with bamboo torches, tiki items, canvas chairs, colorful lights, shells, sand, garland, and festive tables. The Bamboo torches and tiki items gives a tropical island feel. The canvas chairs, shells and sand give a more traditional beach feel.
Of course, there needs to be some type of seating in the garden. Once such a beautiful garden space has been created, it should be enjoyed. A pathway lined with solar lights could be designed to lead directly to a bench, an outdoor swing, or a couple of chairs arrangement near or in the center of the garden. A solar spotlight could be used to illuminate a uniquely shaped plant or shrub at night.
